Air New Zealand Leadership & Inspiration Award (supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade)
This award recognises a young person who has demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities by leading a project in their community, church or school or has acted in a way that has inspired others to make a positive change in their own life or the lives of others.
The Prime Minister's Pacific Youth Awards has teamed up with Air New Zealand and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade to offer a once–in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit Geneva.
The winner of the Air New Zealand Leadership & Inspiration Award will have the chance to attend one of two international conferences and witness leadership on the global stage.
*Please note an itinerary will be drafted to suit the winner. Timing and availability will determine which leaders the winner meets during his or her visit. The trip must be undertaken in 2017. Please see Air NZ Terms and Conditions.
Ako Aotearoa STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) Award
This award recognises a young person for significant academic achievement in STEM subjects and who has a track record of supporting the learning of others.
The successful entrant will win a paid internship to the value of $10,000 at a tertiary institution that they are enrolled in. The recipient will work as a teaching and research assistant for Ako Aotearoa for one semester in 2017 and be involved in a range of activities to inspire and support Pacific youth to follow STEM-related career opportunities.
Government Communications Security Bureau Sub-Category STEM Award
This award recognises a young person for significant academic achievement in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
The successful entrant will win $10,000 cash to go towards a tertiary institution that they are enrolled in.
BNZ Commercial & Corporate Award
This award recognises a young person who has shown significant academic achievement or business activity in the fields of commerce, accounting, marketing, international business or similar.
The winner of this category will receive a four month paid internship commencing February 2017, within BNZ’s Corporate & Commercial Banking Team based in Highbrook (Auckland). During the internship, you will be supported by a mentor, and you'll get to work with and learn from some incredibly talented and supportive people.
Creative New Zealand Arts & Creativity Award
This award recognises a young person who has demonstrated a significant level of achievement in the arts or has used the arts to effect change in their community.
The winner of this category gets $10,000 to fund a paid internship or residency with a New Zealand arts organisation or put towards an approved arts project.*
* The Ministry will need to agree on how the prize money is spent
Deloitte Business & Enterprise Award
This award recognises a young person who has demonstrated entrepreneurial acumen through a business or social enterprise activity.
The winner will have a paid internship at Deloitte over the 2017/18 summer.
Auckland Council Community Star Award
Recognises a young person who has made a significant contribution to the wellbeing of their local community.
The successful entrant will win a paid three month internship to the value of $10,000.
NZIS (NZ Institute of Sport) Sports & Fitness Award
This category recognises a young person or group of young people for extraordinary achievement in their chosen sport or for making an outstanding contribution to sports and/or fitness and/or recreation in their community or industry.
NZIS is awarding three scholarships valued at approximately $18,000 total (each award is worth $6,000 for one year of tuition fees and course related costs).* The Awards can be taken up in the NZIS campus of each Awardee’s choice (Wellington, Christchurch or Auckland).
Leadership NZ provides the winners of each category a tailored leadership development programme designed to support and encourage them to develop their leadership skills.
