Entry Criteria

Please note: nominations for the 2016 Prime Minister's Pacific Youth Awards have closed. 

General criteria

Young people eligible to apply for the 2016 Awards:

  • are aged 17-24 years of age at the time applications are called for
  • are New Zealand residents of Pacific descent and can demonstrate that they are involved in the Pacific community
  • show integrity and have character references from two independent referees of appropriate standing (e.g. a minister, school teacher, youth worker etc)
  • have achieved significant success in one of the Award areas in the last 12 months (applicants may only apply for one category).

Please note that shortlisted applicants will be required to undertake a police check. Their permission will be sought should this be required.

NZIS Sports & Fitness criteria
NZIS Logo

Successful applicants must meet NZIS course entry criteria:

  • Minimum 80 NCEA Credits at level 2 in any one year
  • A demonstrated commitment to the sport, fitness and recreation area
  • Students who fall outside of the academic category may still be considered upon a personal interview
  • Height and weight measurements required as part of application process

Air New Zealand Leadership & Inspiration Award Criteria

• Please note an itinerary will be drafted to suit the winner. Timing and availability will determine which leaders the winner meets during his or her visit.
• The trip must be undertaken in the first half of 2017

 

Ako Aotearoa STEM Award Criteria

AKO

Successful applicants must meet the general criteria and must also be:
• Enrolled in a STEM-related programme at a university or ITP (polytechnic) in New Zealand in 2017
• Available to work between 5-10 hours per week
• Have evidence of achievement / ability in STEM subjects


Auckland Council Community Star Award Criteria

Auckland CouncilSuccessful applicants must meet the general criteria and must also be:
• Living or have organised their own place of residence in Auckland over the term of the internship
• A driver’s license is desirable but not compulsory.

 

 Creative New Zealand Arts & Creativity Award

In addition to the general criteria, successful applicants must submit a portfolio to reflect an arts and creativity project they have been working on in the last 12 months.

 

Deloitte Business & Enterprise Award

DEL PRI RGBIn addition to the general entry criteria, successful applicants must:
• Be at least in their second year of University studying a relevant discipline, including Commerce, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Law, and Management, with good academic results.
• Have the desire to develop a range of skills to apply to their work in a business, entrepreneur and/or social enterprise setting.
• Have organised their own place of residence in Auckland or Wellington over the term of the internship, running from November 2017 – March 2018 (indicative).
• Have the legal right to work in New Zealand. 

 

BNZ Commercial & Corporate Award

BNZ

In addition to the general entry criteria, successful applicants will:

• Have a relevant degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics or Management, demonstrating good and consistent grades.
• A genuine passion for business and a desire to build successful relationships with customers.
• Be available for full time employment for four months from February 2017.
• Be prepared to work from our Highbrook office in Auckland.
• Have the legal right to work in New Zealand.
