The Ministry for Pacific Peoples is pleased to offer eight Toloa Scholarships for Pacific students to pursue studies in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) subjects.
The scholarships are each valued at up to $25,000, which will be paid over a period of three years to the successful first year undergraduate or postgraduate recipients. Recipients will also receive some mentoring during the course of their studies.
Applications for 2017's scholarships have now closed.
To be eligible for a Toloa Scholarship, applicants must be:
- Of Pacific Island descent (proof will be required)
- A citizen or permanent resident of New Zealand at the time of application
- Have achieved NCEA Level 3 with Excellence or Merit passes in STEM subjects relevant to the proposed degree course
- Have enrolled, or intend to enrol, in a full time undergraduate or postgraduate degree course, majoring in STEM subjects, at an approved NZQA accredited tertiary provider in New Zealand for the 2018 academic year.
