The Ministry for Pacific Peoples welcomes a new Budget 2025 investment to strengthen the work of Pacific Wardens. This funding boost honours a long-standing, community-led initiative grounded in Pacific values of service, safety, and connection.

The Ministry is proud to see this kaupapa supported as part of the Pacific portfolio and acknowledges the contribution of the Auckland Pacific Wardens Trust, who will receive targeted funding to help grow and sustain their impact.

Pacific Wardens have been a trusted presence in communities for more than a decade, offering calm, culturally-grounded support in neighbourhoods, at events, and in moments where connection and reassurance matter most.

The Government is investing $1 million over four years, providing much-needed stability for the Trust to continue their vital work with confidence. The additional funding will go towards more training, transport and uniforms, and the expansion of a paid role to coordinate support for volunteers.

We acknowledge the leadership, dedication, and tireless work of Pacific Wardens past and present.

The Ministry looks forward to working closely with the Auckland Pacific Wardens Trust, as they strengthen their operations and governance of Pacific Wardens around the country.
