The Pacific Healthy Homes Initiative will continue to mid-2026 to help more Pacific families have healthier, warmer homes, Minister for Pacific Peoples Dr Shane Reti announced today.
First launched in July 2024, the initiative builds on the existing Healthy Homes Initiative and Warmer Kiwi Homes programmes. This extension sees a further $1m of funding for the initiative through to 30 June 2026.
The Pacific Healthy Homes Initiative has supported over 300 Pacific households in the past year, delivering more than 5200 interventions such as insultation, curtains, heating, or minor repairs. Another 200 households are expected to benefit from the programme over the next year.
Led by the Ministry for Pacific Peoples, the initiative is delivered in partnership with Sustainability Trust and Habitat for Humanity.
The initiative supports eligible households in South Auckland and Porirua, and has a focus on older Pacific people with chronic health conditions.
