In the lead-up to the holiday season, Auckland's premium shopping precinct is hosting a new retail experience celebrating Pacific and Māori creativity.
Oyster & Moon is an indigenous-led online department store, selling ethical fashion, art, homewares and products from indigenous creators of Aotearoa and the Pacific. Following a successful pop-up store in July 2024, Oyster & Moon has launched a concept store in Auckland ahead of the gifting season.
From Tuesday 26 November at Britomart's 10 Te Ara Tahuhu, the store will be open until Sunday December 8, and will host demonstrations, tastings, and bespoke experiences for customers. The store showcases over 50 Pacific and Māori creators, makers, artisans and innovators, including prominent artists and artisans.
“This is more than a store – this is a celebration of our region's most innovative creators and a gateway to experiencing Māori and Pacific luxury in its most authentic form," says Sarah Rennie, co-founder of Oyster & Moon.
"Each piece tells a story of heritage reimagined for the modern collector."
Auckland-based fine artist Shawnee Tekii, whose work features prominently in the store, says "This venture represents a new chapter in how we showcase our cultural excellence.”
"It's about creating spaces where our stories can be shared and celebrated at the highest level."
