You may have noticed the Ministry for Pacific Peoples has given its logo a refresh, making it easier to use and more accessible.
Our original logo, designed in 2015 by Auckland design students, introduced the motif based on manu (birds) to reflect the migration story of Pacific peoples to New Zealand.
It was important to the Ministry to keep the central story of our logo, while also making our name easier to read for those with low vision or vision impairments.
The typeface has now been updated and made black. This will make it more accessible and easier for our providers and community organisations to use on posters, flyers and social media images.
We have also refined the frigatebird motif with the bird’s distinctive tail made longer. Having the birds rising reflects our vision of Pacific communities thriving in New Zealand, while keeping the migration story and our connection to the Pacific region at the forefront of our brand.
All other components of the Ministry’s brand remain the same, including our name and brand colours.
We are taking a gradual approach to implementing this update to the logo, by initially updating it online on our website and documents. Logos on physical signage and other materials will be updated overtime, when they need to be replaced or refreshed.
