Business owners in the South Island can expand and develop at the upcoming Pacific Business Trust (PBT) workshops being hosted in Dunedin for the first time.
Two days of workshops will be staged at Business South Inc, with aims to bring together Pacific businesses and provide an opportunity to network, collaborate and engage with others.
On September 21, PBT is hosting an Employment Rights and Obligations workshop from 9am-4pm, which is suitable for business owners who have employees or are looking to employ people and want to gain better understanding of employee rights and obligations as an employer in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Information will be shared on how your business can become accredited for an Accredited Employer Work Visa and be able to sponsor people from the Pacific to work in your business in New Zealand.
Attendees will also learn about employee rights and how they differ for employees, contractors and volunteers, employment agreements and what they must include, trial periods, types of leave, public holidays, rest and meal breaks, minimum wage, record-keeping, bullying, harassment and discrimination, redundancy and dismissal and resolving problems.
The Auckland-based Trust is also hosting a Storytelling workshop on September 22, from 9am - 1pm at the same venue.
This workshop targets those who are looking to create a business pitch with confidence, and build your ability to capture people’s attention by telling a better story about your business.
Attendees will explore how to become a better leader and inspire others through storytelling, how to create your business story that gives meaning and impact, build and share your business narrative, tips for your successful elevator pitch and much more.
Pacific experts from PBT are excited to be hosting the workshops in Dunedin for the first time.
There will be opportunities for networking during and after the workshops.
