What is Kātoatoa?
Kātoatoa is a fully integrated IT system made up of Financial Management, Grants Management, and Customer Relationship Management capabilities. Kātoatoa will replace our existing Financial Management System, and the various systems and processes including the Tupu Database used to manage grants and contracts interactions with Pacific communities and stakeholders across Aotearoa.
Why is the system called Kātoatoa?
The project team consulted with Tuiloma Lina Samu, Principal Advisor, Cultural Practice Lead, who recommended the name Kātoatoa. It was subsequently endorsed by Tautua.
Kātoatoa is Te Reo Māori Kūki ‘Āirani, Gagana Tokelau and Vagahau Niue and in this context means collectiveness, unity, togetherness and working as one. This reflects the bringing together of the three Financial, Grants and Customer Relationship Management systems into one fully integrated system, with all the components working together to improve efficiencies and outcomes.
Why do we need Kātoatoa?
Kātoatoa will address current challenges around efficiencies of processes that have a direct impact on costs and delays in approving grants and getting funding to the communities that need it.
Kātoatoa will help us ensure that funds get to the right places more efficiently and quickly. It also means that more funding can go towards supporting our Pacific communities instead of processing and administration of grants.
What are the benefits of Kātoatoa?
There are many important benefits that Kātoatoa will bring, including:
