The Tulī is taking flight once again, this time in the beautiful South Island.
Lalanga Fou Fono: Tulī Takes flight events are set to take place in three regional towns in the South Island during May, including Dunedin, Invercargill and Oamaru.
Last month, the Ministry for Pacific Peoples (MPP) hosted the first Lalanga Fou Fono in Hamilton, and on the back of the event’s success, the team are taking the Fono on the road to regional centres around the country.
The Minister for Pacific Peoples Hon. Aupito William Sio will attend the Fono along with the MPP team, with the aim to reconnect with Pacific communities, share the Pacific Aotearoa Vision and priority areas identified in the Lalanga Fou report, as well as highlight opportunities that have arisen since the Pacific Vision Summit in November 2018.
These opportunities include the investment in, and expansion of the Pacific Employment Support Service into regional Aotearoa.
There is growing awareness about Pacific values informing how things are done and relationships are built with Pacific communities in a Pacific setting.
As a result, the Ministry is eager to work collaboratively with communities to ensure clear strategic direction, as it continues to unlock opportunities and provide support needed to further and expand the contribution Pacific people are making towards future growth and prosperity in Aotearoa.
