The Toloa Secondary School Scholarships aim to inspire and support Pacific students in their engagement with STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths.
Toloa supports Pacific Peoples in STEAM pathways over a whole of life approach from ECE, primary, intermediate, secondary, tertiary through to the workforce. Now in its seventh year, the Toloa funds are achieving its goal of helping Secondary School students thrive in Science, Technology, Engineering Arts and Mathematics (STEAM).
Toloa scholarships were also available for tertiary students.

Toloa’s Vision is to make a transformational impact in the communities we live in. Toloa Scholarships support Pacific students in Years 9 through 13 to pursue studies in STEAM. The scholarship seeks to inspire and support Pacific student’s early stages of STEAM academic engagement.
The scholarship covers school fees for 2023 and/or a digital device (Chromebook or equivalent), with a combined total of up to $2,000. Toloa has expanded its reach to include Arts as a creative and innovative skill, processes and knowledge that are transferable into science, technology, engineering, and maths careers. Toloa will begin accepting applications from those in vocational education.
Students who have previously received Toloa Scholarship were able to apply again this year.
Applications for our 2023 scholarships opened on Friday 8th July and closed at 8pm on Friday 5 August 2022.

STEAM refers to Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths subjects.
STEAM skills and knowledge are not new to Pacific people.
The Toloa programme champions that Pacific peoples come from a lineage of navigators, explorers, innovators, and experts in STEAM. STEAM skills are adaptable in a vast ocean of career pathways and opportunities.
The Arts is defined within the Toloa programme as creative and innovative skills, processes and knowledge that are transferable into science, technology, engineering and maths careers.

Applicants are informed about the outcome by early September, 2022.
The Toloa Secondary School Scholarship package includes both monetary and non-monetary components.
An invoice from your school will be required and funds will be paid directly to your secondary school to manage on your behalf. The school will be able to release your funds for study-related costs as agreed by the Toloa funding team, the Parent/Caregiver, student and the school.
The device part of the scholarship package is sent to your school, for delivery to you directly.

Toloa Secondary School Scholarships are not available for:
Students that are not enrolled in a formal New Zealand secondary school, vocational training provider, alternative education or verified home school
