Severe thunderstorms were felt across the Auckland region last night, with reports of further flooding. Please visit the MetService website for further severe weather updates and stay safe.
Many Aucklanders are back at work and school following yesterday’s heavy rain and flooding, while many damaged properties have already been visited by Auckland Council assessors. According to Auckland Emergency Management, the council is working quickly to identify any damage to buildings, unstable ground and any other potential hazards and take action to reduce any risks.
An Emergency Mobile Alert was issued by Auckland Emergency Management just after noon on Tuesday, 9 May, in response to a severe weather system moving across Auckland and Northern parts of the country.
Heavy rain and thunderstorms are affecting the Auckland region plus Aotea Great Barrier Island, and are expected to continue through to midnight tonight.
The declaration applies to the entire Auckland region.
